NORMA STEPHENSON PS

Born in Hawick in 1945, she grew up in Sheffield and won a bursary to Sheffield College of Art to study fine art and later a year of graphic design. For the past 15 years Norma has organised painting courses, with well known artists, at her home in the Yorkshire Dales. She began painting seriously again in 2001 influenced by annual holidays on the west coast of Scotland, a childhood living on the edge of the Peak District and now the hills of the Forest of Bowland and the Yorkshire Dales. Over the last five years she has regularly exhibited at the PS exhibition and the RI exhibition at the Mall Gallery and the RWS at the Bankside Gallery. Norma was elected a member of the Pastel Society in March 2004. She was awarded the St Cuthberts Mill Award in 2005, WH Patterson Fine Art Award, 2006 and Winsor and Newton 1st Prize Award in 2006. She has also shown at a number of galleries including the Orange Street Gallery, Uppingham and the Wykeham Gallery, Stockbridge.
