Michael Ewart was born in 1940 in the village of Felton in Northumberland, and lived there until 1966, when he moved to the town of Ashington. After working in various occupations he eventually settled for teaching in 1972 and worked in the profession for thirty years. Now retired Michael is able to devote more time to his painting. I have always been interested in art and began painting seriously in my late teens. I have had no formal training but I feel the way I have studied past masters, especially English painters such as Sickert, Coldstream and Passmore, they have had an influence in the way I have developed. I paint exclusively in oils as I like the way the medium allows me to explore the feel of a subject Michael has exhibited in many galleries, some of which include: Shire Pottery Gallery, Alnwick, Flat Cat Gallery, Launder. Rhum Gallery, Penrith and the Leith Gallery Edinburgh.
