Born in 1937, James Harrigan studied at the Glasgow School of Art from 1956 to 1960, and continued with a post-graduate degree in Print Making in 1961. James has shown in many mixed and solo exhibitions throughout Scotland and in a touring exhibition with the Arts Council. Solo exhibitions include the Stenton Gallery, the Gatehouse Gallery, Glasgow and the Richmond Hill Gallery, London. His work can be found in private, public and corporate collections, including the House of Lords, IBM, Glasgow University, The Dick Institute and in France, Italy, Germany, the Netherlands, Australia, the USA, Canada, Hong Kong and St Kitts. In 1985 James was awarded first prize in the Scotsman Art Competition, and again first prize in the 1990 Laing Art Competition.
