KATHARINE HOLMES

Born in 1962 near Airton in the Yorkshire Dales Katharine studied fine art at the University of Newcastle upon Tyne and went on to work as a curatorial assistant at the Abbot Hall Museum and Art Gallery Kendal, where she studied 18th and 19th century watercolours of the Lake District. Both her mother and grandmother (Constance Pearson) were artists. In 1987 she moved to Glasgow and was given her first solo exhibition at the Collective Gallery in Edinburgh. It was in 1990 that she moved back to the Yorkshire Dales and began to paint the landscape, capturing it through the seasons and at different times of day. Exhibitions of her work continue to sell out, major shows include the University of Leeds, curated by Dr Hilary Diaper, The Bruton Gallery, Cork Street, The New Academy Gallery, London and Thompsons City Gallery.
