KITTY NORTH

Born in 1963, Kitty North studied Fine Art at Chelsea School of Art, Brighton University and Manchester University.Norths principal subject is landscape, she paints the North Yorkshire countryside in which she lives, with a freedom born of long familiarity. She goes out into the landscape to paint or draw, working for hours in front of the motif, whether seated on a hillside or stuck in her car in a snowdrift. Kitty North has a formidable list of solo and mixed exhibitions to her credit and works in many private and public collections including: Blackrock (Merril Lynch) London: Private collection of the Duke and Duchess of Devonshire at Chatsworth House Derbyshire: Harewood House Yorkshire: Silver Cross HQ, Yorkshire: Coniston Hall Hotel, Yorkshire and The Arts Club Dover Street London. Publications include: Love and Landscape, Published 1998: Heart and Soul, published 2000: North to South, Published 2005 and Life on the Land , Published 2006. Art is Kitty Norths language, her means of making sense of the world. Her love of paint and the process of painting are central to her life. Kitty North is something of a nature poet, in tune with the season, aware of the land as a living thing with its own patterns and cycles. - Andrew Lambirth Love & Landscape
