Born in Belfast in 1952, Victor Richardson has lived most of his adult life in County Cork, except for brief spells in England and France. Although he began as a painter, he has, for the past 25 years, established his reputation as a pastellist. However, due to gallery demand, particularly in America, he has recently returned to oils and is relishing the experience. Victor believes that using pastel has taught him so much about colour and he is eager to apply the lessons to the oil medium. Seurat, Klimt and Bonnard have influenced his style, but over the years he has developed his own distinctive approach to traditional landscape painting. Victor has exhibited widely in Ireland, England and America. Recent exhibitions include Works on Paper at the New York Armoury, the C2 show to mark Corks inauguration as the European Capital of Culture and Art Chicago.
