Born in 1947, Gerald Green gained a Diploma in Architecture at Leicester Polytechnic. For over twenty six years he operated his own business as a freelance Artist and Architectural Illustrator working from his studio in Warwickshire. Commercial clients have included many of the major Property Development and Architectural Companies both in this country and abroad. During this time he also served as Vice President of The Society of Architectural Illustrators and as a Director of The Free Painters and Sculptors Group in London. Parallel with this Gerald has pursued a fine art career and since 1978 has exhibited and sold paintings through a number of galleries, whilst also undertaking part-time teaching, lecturing, demonstrating and writing about his various painting methods and techniques. He has been a finalist in several national arts competitions, including The Singer and Friedlander Sunday Times Watercolour Competition, The Laing and Not The Turner Prize exhibitions. He also regularly exhibits with several of the Society shows at the Mall Galleries, London. My paintings are impressions of places and events from everyday life. Many are painted on the spot and are essentially personal responses to what I see. My approach is to interpret the essence of my chosen subjects with an almost casual reality and light is the essential ingredient that I use to energize and invigorate my work.
