JANET KERR

Born in Hornchurch, Essex, Janet began painting at a very early age. In the 60s she studied Graphics and went on to work as a Graphic Designer for a record company in London, designing album covers. Janet moved to Yorkshire with the company in 1974, and after her daughter was born in 1978 returned to her first love of painting, excited by her local Pennine landscape. Janet studied Fine Art, mentored by Charles Bartlett PPRWS, and after some time he encouraged her to apply for membership of the Royal Watercolour Society. She was elected into the society in 1995. During that year she was an award winner at the Northern Prospects exhibition at The Terrace Gallery, Harewood House, and was also one of the four artists Leslie Worth PPRWS chose to show at The Discerning Eye exhibition at The Mall Galleries in London. As well as being a regular exhibitor at the RWSs own Bankside Gallery on the Thames South Bank, Janet has shown extensively in Britain, including the following galleries: The Rowley Gallery of Contemporary Art, London Thompsons Gallery, London The Conningsby Gallery, London The Workhouse Gallery, London Manor House Gallery, Chipping Norton The Whitefriars Gallery, Coventry The Jonleigh Gallery, Guildford Woodgates Gallery, Suffolk The Wykeham Gallery, Stockbridge The Towpath Gallery,, Henley on Thames Orange Street Gallery, Uppingham, Rutland
